I’m constantly trying to go back to the fact that there are people behind those numbers.
Avina Khakh, Senior Social Value Coordinator at Vita Health Group
Vita Health Group’s purpose is to make people better. Long before it began working with Social Value Portal, much of its work already fitted that purpose, whether reaching communities who struggle to access healthcare, supporting colleagues, or running wider community interventions. None of it was structured, strategic, or measured, so the organisation had little visibility of the good it was already doing.
Changing that meant moving Social Value from a nice-to-have to business as usual. Vita Health Group brought in stakeholders at every level, from the boardroom to operational teams, and built its Social Value plan around four themes drawn straight from its purpose: better opportunities, better operations, better communities, and better planet.
Watch the film below to find out how Vita Health Group is putting that plan into practice across its NHS and private services:
With the Social Value TOM System™ , Vita Health Group reported over £14 million of Social Value in 2024, its first reporting year. In year two, the team used that baseline to identify gaps and strengths and plan its impact proactively rather than reviewing it after the fact, delivering over £41 million of Social Value validated through the TOM System by Social Value Portal.
Accountability runs through the whole programme. A clear strategy means anyone can hold the organisation to its commitments; the executive sponsor for Social Value reports directly to the CEO, and 16 Social Value Champions capture activity across their services and departments with training and support from the central team.
We were able to use the TOM System to kind of create one point of truth for our activity. And this meant that every time we were actually talking about Social Value, we had both the qualitative impact as well as the quantitative data to make it more real.

This isn’t the sort of work that you can do on the side of your desk. It’s the sort of work that has to be delivered with integrity.
