We don't just want to leave a building, we want to leave a story, interactions and longer lasting benefits to the communities.
Kate Moore, Social Value Lead at Speller Metcalfe
When West Midlands Police began working with Social Value Portal, Social Value sat outside the contract rather than inside it. Over the last few years, that's changed: more than 70 suppliers have committed to over £12 million of Social Value, with the provision reviewed and refined five years into delivery.
One contract alone generates roughly £21,000 a year for local initiatives. In the last year, that funding helped 298 veterans and provided over 360 therapy sessions - sessions described in the film as life -saving, paid for through a policing contract most people would never associate with veteran welfare.

Shah Begum, Head of Social Value and Outreach at Specialist Computer Centres
It's much better, in my view, where appropriate, and where we're delivering value for money, to be spending that with companies and contracts that address Social Value and have a real impact on the lives of the people that live, work and visit the West Midlands.
